one crazy almost certainly wrong thing i sometimes think about: if light can transmit information (it can), and uv light causes damage to our dna that produces mutation (it does), could a sufficiently advanced civilization starjack our sun and direct human evolution remotely?

Wouldn't that require the UV light to hit germ cells for any evolution to occur? Otherwise, the mutations wouldn't actually affect the species as a whole, right? Also, it is difficult to imagine something that would adjust the dynamics of the Sun without mangling the Earth

the level of information needed to remotely direct evolution like this is magnitudes higher than directly intervening in human society. Its like writing a web server using minecraft instead of directly writing it in C.
