Great question. To start, millions of manufacturing related jobs were lost in swing states leading up to the 2016 election. These voters were promised retraining for new jobs, often in tech. With how hard learning code actually it's no surprise those jobs never showed up...

Let's look at the lived experience of these voters. The economic anxiety that is either ignored by many in the tech industry (like us), elected officials, media, etc... or promised will get better someday in the future when the abundance offered by tech finally trickles down...
