amazon employs 650,000 people. if that’s not good for the public i’m really not sure what we’re talking about anymore. https://t.co/ocfcPN28N0

I'd rather have 650 companies employing 1,000 people, and paying their corporate taxes and not syphoning off public money.

and i’d rather live in a floating castle with ice cream clouds and an army of flying monkeys at my disposal but we aren’t talking about fantasy land right now

nope. just talking about government supporting the biggest businesses and most monopolistic companies in America.

Mate they didn’t pay taxes because they got tax breaks for R&D and capital investment which are the highest of any corporation in America. If you believe we don’t need R&D credits as a society then go eliminate it. The same problem remains with 650 companies who do R&D

Ah, yes. The totally unattainable “fantasy land” of... a corporation not evading all tax, and the government not capitulating to the company’s demands to fully subsidize their employment costs. Clearly akin to floating castles and armies of floating monkeys.

It’s not Amazon’s fault that our corporate tax system is set up to incentivize corporations to reinvest their profits. A corporation’s sole goal is to make profit, which includes paying the least amount of taxes. And there’s nothing wrong with that

It wouldn’t be fantasy land, just proper taxation+anti trust laws and externality costs would do, you know sound economics!?!

Nobody is stopping anyone from opening one of those companies that employ 1000 people and pay corporate taxes.
