Likely, the child has special needs and can't live independently. OR, they could be a scrappy, plucky college student.
ocasio is responding directly to the rebuttal that this rule *would not* apply to the disabled. we’re talking about a healthy, capable 19 year old. i’ve been working since i was 14.

it was fine? i learned a lot, and feel the experience was important. my kids will have jobs, and at 19 they will know how to feed themselves.

Lots of mouths to feed in my house, plus it was an opportunity to not be in my house. I thought I was the biggest failure for years for struggling with my grades while holding down my job. Turns out, I just can’t do both at once, haha. Too much!
