~ the workers ~ didn’t build google. two guys in a lab at stanford built google. tech is incomparable to any industry of the last 200 years. applying the tactics and language from those earlier unions to our current reality is clownish and insulting.pic.twitter.com/G0nZ1hf7Y6

It’s always the ones who get the most the easiest who angrily expect more the quickest. (Not a comment on the Google firings. I have no familiarity with that situation.)

1/ @ micsolana, point well-taken re the rhetoric. Rhetoric aside, as far as the substantive issues, my observation as a comms guy is that Google organizers haven't figured out crisp, compelling language to plead their case. A comparison to the fight for MLB free agency...

2/ ...is flawed (nothing analogous to the Reserve Clause, for starters) but in that instance, Curt Flood's "A well paid slave is still a slave" line was, from a comms perspective, sheer genius in terms of distilling the issue & countering the "they earn tons already" complaint

Except they're not organizing for more money or nap pods. They want the company to stop retaliating against abuse victims and to stop developing tech for an authoritarian Chinese government. Who you've chosen to defend in this situation is... telling.
