Spicy take. But I wonder what is the best way/heuristic/rule of thumb of assessing if a company is overstaffed.

Perhaps the overall philosophy here is that it's better to have smaller teams of higher performance people with high pay vs a large organization of underperformers with low pay. Seems uncontroversial when we put it that way! :)
