grew up in jersey, live in california, and both of my parents were teachers. absolutely common for people to be making over 90k at retirement (with summers off), which, as jd notes, is still nothing compared to the value of the pension.
Grew up in Texas and Oklahoma, now live in Colorado. Everyone I know in those three states makes below ~50k. My dad was also a teacher. After 20 years his salary was 53k. Cali, NJ, NY are huge outliers. However, JDs point still stands. Mostly arguing semantics at this point.
