Like you believe a specific story or just that this endless complexity and interconnection points to something larger than we can comprehend?

more the latter, but also a sense some of our religious stories are in general true (and some more true than others). the belief i've been lately working through is a belief in the supernatural -- knowledge and truth literally beyond our comprehension, nonetheless true.

The god of some specific religion? A conscious being with human-type thoughts and intentions?
something
powerful that made the universe (and itself? / just exists?) ? -
i believe in one god, the creator, and think probably my thinking on this maps most closely to the abrahamic god

"I acknowledge the size/age of the universe and claim there's an entity who both created the whole shebang and cares what I and the 7 billion other only-recently-evolved self-reflective apes happen to do on this rock" doesn't exactly scream "I'm rational". Why believe?

first, you're not challenging the notion of god rn, you're challenging the notion of a very specific god you yourself once believed in. second, that we are only "recently-evolved self-reflective apes" is a strange case for trusting our ability to fully comprehend reality.

What are some of your strongest reasons for believing this? Went on a mission trip this summer with a christian group. Been thinking about this since & have a difficult time coming up with arguments that seem rational to me. Really interested to understand how u think of this!

what i've been thinking recently is there may be (should be?) more information we aren't built to fathom than information we are, and in this i think there's room for the transcendenthttps://twitter.com/micsolana/status/1196616695730716672?s=20 …
