the companies are also highly inconsistent with how this is enforced — see antivaxx controversy, which came to a head when the people who work for Facebook got mad enough inside to push back the unsatisfying solution is downranking in the news feed — ie kicks can down the road

the overall point im making is that the companies dont seem to have a coherent thesis around what should and shouldn’t be on the platform and when they DO coalesce it is later undermined by the topic du jour that they’re forced to act on, internally or externally

agree this is a huge problem, though apparently caused by too much rather than too little policing.
