This is like the fish in water story where the fish don't understand what "water" is. It's easy to discount the importance of a good education when you've had it all your life.
agree they don’t understand the edge they had because for them it seemed as oxygen, disagree their edge was education. their edge was a network of powerful people.

True, everyone collectively pretends they're investing in their education when its actually a consumption good (ie partying). Also, the confidence boost of knowing your friend's dad can get you a job is underrated. Nobody told harvard grads they could ever fail.

That‘s exactly what he’s saying if you read both his tweets: that the affluent have enough power anyhow to place their children and don‘t need to obsess about educational signalling. (IMO he‘s way more cynical than all the people dunking on him realize.)
