Just heard an NPR promo for a segment on the 1619 Project that went something like "Some say it's important. Some say it's an insult." Reminded me that both-sides-ism isn't always about fake balance. Sometimes it's about creating the appearance of controversy for clicks/ratings

Perhaps. Maybe only because it'd be so crazy, at least if that happened among people in the same city. But even then, I'd rather wait a few months to make sure it's a real phenomenon. and also verify the disagreement is being made in good faith.

Pardon for butting in. But IMO this is currently one of the biggest problems in political journalism today. The stories based on "X says this.... Y thinks that." Such a waste of precious space. I mean you're always going to be able to find someone to make anything controversial.
