i understand conservatorship is a big deal, but the reason there are so many hoops (i.e. required acts of violence) is because the city appears to be offering permanent free housing at the end of the process.

but surely having a mental breakdown and trying to kill someone should get you at least a week or two, regardless of whether or not the city has had a chance to build another 800 thousand dollar one bedroom apartment for you to stay in?

The DA advocated against his release and the judge hadn’t seen the video at the hearing. So maybe the question is why isn’t it standard practice to show video evidence at hearings?

That’s just not factually true. About 1/2 of exits are actually bus tickets elsewhere. Only 4-12% of 6K permanent supportive housing units turn over every year & become open to new chronically homeless people. Shelter waitlist is 1K people long. So... lots of people on the street
