I’ve never understood the appeal of this kind of pessimism/nihilism. What do people gain from this? Ego? Isn’t that *dramatically* less helpful or important than actual problem solving and accomplishment?

I understand the commentary being made regarding the certain advantages people are born into. However, this fatalistic mentality is simply not a fruitful one.
