did a little research on the impact of unpaid internships this weekend and couldn't find anything to substantiate the claim they hurt young people. did find a few pieces on the impact of crippling, lifelong student debt however. might be worth exploring!

One of my first jobs changed my life. I sometimes worked for free (not often) and occasionally slept at the office. Much better learning experience than my actual education.
people keep asking “what about the people who can’t afford it.” we *were* the people who couldn’t afford it.

Knowledge, experience and relationships are critical. The hill interns will understand it once they look back on their careers. And realize that is was worth far more than tuition to most schools.
