that would impact the price of gold, it wouldn't destroy gold as a store of value. and i'm not even sure it would *GREATLY* impact the price of gold - the cost of mining will be exorbitant in the shorter term

The gold asteroid is a silly reason for gold bugs to be worried. They should be worried about young investors buying BTC and not gold to store value.
