Hmm not entirely sure “If *I’m* elected President we’re going to cure cancer” demonstrates ambition or a misguided faith in his own personal abilities. The only thing he can do is motivational speeches and diversions of taxpayer money. It is the scientists who will cure it.
Don't get me wrong. Curing cancer is a worthy ambition as was going to the Moon. The difference between these two speeches is that JFK appeals to the collective "we" and highlights difficulties whilst Biden appeals to the "if I am elected" without discussion of the difficulties.
