Marx is helped by lack of engagement. When you read him it gets even dumber than what filters through culture. Rawls doubly so. You have to be very disconnected from common sense to find something in it. Hayek/Friedman/Mises/Smith are the opposite.

At UChicago we read Rawls and Marx - just as much as Nozick and Hayek simply because you had to have a full Econ history. I spent an entire quarter on just Adam Smith. And an entire quarter on just Das Capital. Was considered norm for all Econ studies grads
