I'm happy for your dad, and there are definitely Uber drivers who are happy with the gig. But those are individual data points, and comprehensive analysis has shown pretty conclusively that, on average and including operating expenses, Uber drivers make less than minimum wage.
the story changes by region, by time of day, and by hours driving per week. the media is taking aggregate data and telling a story about full time drivers in big, expensive cities that is completely untrue. you are disseminating that story because you want to believe it.
