I feel good about this anti-facial recognition legislation from @AaronPeskin. Tell me why I might be wrong. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/14/us/facial-recognition-ban-san-francisco.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share …

@AaronPeskin had time to do this while working on our systemic homelessness. and drug problem. and defacto legal public defecation. and actual crisis in housing. and hellscape education system. and...1 reply 0 retweets 6 likes -

It makes me sad to think of how much nicer SF would be if it had better policies.

SF is super dysfunctional. The land owning class doesn't want to pay more in taxes and their taxes don't keep up with cost of providing services bc of Prop. 13. Every cycle, the city promises more benefits in the future that now are ~$4-5B in unfunded pension liabilities

so
@mayoredlee attracted in tech in 2011 and it basically took the city budget from $6-7B to $11B and it basically only allowed us to run in place against the unfunded liabilities but the industry gets blamed for everything.1 reply 1 retweet 20 likes -
i agree the property tax is extremely unfair, but i do not at all understand why we aren’t focusing primarily — every day, at the top of our lungs — on incompetence (and possibly corruption).

some of it is honestly well above supervisorial or mayoral pay grade. Prop. 13 is embedded in the State Constitution, California rule has to be addressed by the state court system. Just wish that they were honest about it with voters. But it's easier to create other boogeymen.

wait wait wait, i’m not talking about prop 13, you are. i’m talking about the basic operations of our city.
