i mostly just don’t understand how @AaronPeskin had time to do this while working on our systemic homelessness. and drug problem. and defacto legal public defecation. and actual crisis in housing. and hellscape education system. and...

It makes me sad to think of how much nicer SF would be if it had better policies.

SF is super dysfunctional. The land owning class doesn't want to pay more in taxes and their taxes don't keep up with cost of providing services bc of Prop. 13. Every cycle, the city promises more benefits in the future that now are ~$4-5B in unfunded pension liabilities

so @mayoredlee attracted in tech in 2011 and it basically took the city budget from $6-7B to $11B and it basically only allowed us to run in place against the unfunded liabilities but the industry gets blamed for everything.
