I am curious as to why, at a practical level, this bothers some ppl so much. Let's say those rights had always been retained, what would be the utility in removing them? What's the argument for it in terms of contribution to rehabilitation or punishment?
you’re proposing the radical change here, not me. if you want to abolish prisons, the burden of explaining how this will not lead to chaos is yours.

Abolishing prisons is several orders of magnitude different it's also materially different since we know prison exists to keep dangerous ppl out of gen pop and to punish/rehab them. I think it's unclear on how vote denial serves those goals. In fact I feel it's just symbolic.
