It seems significant that after 10 years of basically no action in the monetary economics space, there are now two movements at either end in MMT and the crytpo/gold hard money crowd that are radically rejecting orthodoxy.

It’s not immediately obvious bc advocates of both don’t focus their reasoning this way, but MMTer and crypto-Austrians have roughly the same beliefs about money: An information system where the parameters determine allocation of capital.

1)Maybe it’s a level too abstract? Big Q is: what’s the purpose of money? If the answer is at all about ‘coordination’, that’s what I’m getting at. 2)Common view relates money to ‘wealth’ and says MMTers don’t believe in wealth and Austrians are obsessed with it
