if we normalize the seizure of private property and industry on behalf of ambiguously-defined moral good with no coherent plan to operate (current leftist strategy) there won't be any gains from productivity improvement, automation, markets or competition

It's this and the fact that the policies people think a "true social democracy should follow" are less efficient/effective than what more pragmatic minds have proposed to accomplish the same ends are what keep me from more fully embracing this perspective

i keep thinking about san francisco's response to homelessness: a doubling of funds from a new, massive tax with no coherent strategy to end homelessness. this kind of political thinking is lethal.
