An underrated argument against lowering the voting age in the US is the gross way Get Out the Vote campaigns would inevitably be extended to target 16 years olds.

The past is full of 16yos doing more adult stuff than many adults today. Should we also take voting rights from people with brain differences of 18+? How do our expectations of youth form their nature? Should they be given the chance to vote on their right to OPs egs?

When do their interests in preventing ecocide outweigh the risks of their decisions about their own health? Isn’t it their impulsive nature and not their deliberative that seems to worry us?
