I don’t think that’s the convo though is it? It’s more like why are countries less prosperous than us able to afford this and why can’t we do something so obvious that would both unlock a lot of human potential and provide a basic level of dignity?
i mean in terms of not forgetting these programs don’t produce wealth and therefore shouldn’t threaten our ability to produce wealth. agree there’s more we should be doing. absolutely insane our tax burden in ca is comparable to scandinavia w a fraction of the effective gov.
