If you can’t credibly support LBGTQ rights at home, can you credibly support them abroad? (Contradictions between the values the US espouses abroad and what it does domestically have driven permanently transformative policy changes in the past.)
there is absolutely no comparison between the wrong-headed trans military ban and the public execution of gay men. there are literally countries in this world i can’t travel to for fear of death.

I hear you and I still don't think there's anything wrong with pointing out contradictions between foreign policy & American values, and domestic policy & American values.

the reason that Asian-Americans like me are in this country today is because there was a contradiction between Jim Crow & racialized immigration quotas at home between 1924-1965 and democratic values the U.S. was trying to export abroad to other countries in the post-WWII period
