concerning the potential immorality in cap — if in violation of some right or other, it should be illegal. but that isn’t socialism. socialism rejects the concept of private property, requires massive force to perpetuate, and is absolutely a violation of natural rights. immoral.
i think the problem though is we (me) keep contrasting capitalism with socialism, and while in conflict they are not opposites. one is an economic system and one is a prescription for force. the conversation is further confused by constantly changing definitions...

Well, I think there are some areas where a democratically elected government can do a better job than private industry. For example, education, prisons, defense. Arguably, defense is socialized since the gov. runs it. Democracy means we can vote if the gov. is doing a bad job.
