I am a capitalist. If you are a liberated person, you are living in a capitalist nation. If you are fighting for individual freedom in any corner of this globe you are also fighting for capitalism — because there cannot be freedom without capitalism.

Who do you think funded and empowered the murderous regimes of Trujillo, Pinochet, Videla, et al. Why do we use the term “banana republic”?

The US’ desire for its capitalists to extract resources and increase their capital was the whole reason it funded these regimes and excused their atrocities. Doing so might’ve given Americans more freedom to buy cheaper stuff, but it didn’t free the people who lived there.

It’s easy for a Western capitalist (and I am one) who benefits from cheap goods and labor of the rest of the world, but who has never had to sacrifice anything in the name of capitalism, to extol its virtues.
