      News should not be a for profit venture to begin with. It’s a public service essential to a functioning democracy, and should therefore be taxpayer funded. News should serve the interests of the people, not corporations. They should all be nonprofit organizations.

      the right likes to pretend npr is an arm of the state, but how much funding does it actually receive from the government? 15 percent? bet it could operate without that money.

      npr learned to work lean and bring in revenue a long time ago. buzzfeed is only now facing the fact it will never have tech margins.
