the right likes to pretend npr is an arm of the state, but how much funding does it actually receive from the government? 15 percent? bet it could operate without that money.

npr learned to work lean and bring in revenue a long time ago. buzzfeed is only now facing the fact it will never have tech margins.

Actually, it needs the money. Most of it goes to the member stations. Many in small rural areas that couldn't survive without government money. It would really hurt the network to lose that money. So, no...we could not easily survive without gov. funds.
