i’m not saying the government doesn’t innovate. in fact i’ve argued the opposite publicly, and just spoke to all of the things here mentioned on twitter (in the context of existential threats as a necessary gov catalyst). i’m saying this has nothing to do with social welfare.

hmmmm...I guess I think it does. The gov. helps seed the economy and create jobs, which I do consider social welfare. Right? But, I may misunderstand what you mean.
