Couldn't agree more, my family were cuban refugees (back in the 60's) when they came to the US, my grandfather became a janitor as he couldn't practice medicine (his profession) when he first came over, decades later, he became head of the ER at 4 different hospitals

There's deep importance to keeping the american dream alive and well, the US is unique in that perhaps with a few interesting exceptions, like the transformations going on in China, Eastern Europe and Latin America (as they rise out of communism/socialism)

I think your causal reasoning is backward.
