didn't try to stack the courts (motive tell on FDR's part), no success in empire-building war, unpopular, fiercely lambasted by press, politically marginalized in washington, only president for five years

Interesting take. Not sure I agree but not sure I’m educated enough to have an opinion. In the middle of Caro’s work on LBJ, that’s why it came to mind.
