Unpopular opinion: Books are not appropriate for most people in 2018 and we shouldn't universally promote them. Given massive improvement in AV production tools and the potential for novel digital media forms, books as a primary education tool are being replaced quickly.
this opinion was tech dogma like 15 years ago. it’s cooled over time bc books didn’t disappear with the advent of digital readers like CDs did with MP3 players. imo there’s utility here we don’t understand.

Totally agree - a one-to-one map between books and any other format with strictly greater utility does not exist, unlike CD -> MP3; look at how hard just translation from one language to another is for great works like classical texts without losing meaning
