I don't disagree with your main point. But your first example was grief you were experiencing as a child over a family member's death. Warranted. BK wasn't crying in sorrow, he was crying in rage and throwing insults between tears. Different situations.

What's amazing though is how families can change gender narratives. I grew up with two actual math geniuses-- my mother and sister-- and quickly learned that I was bad at math because, relative to them, I was. The gender narrative was proven wrong by evidence. Kids like evidence.
