Yes, whenever I hear Elon's much repeated "chewing on glass" analogy I feel like it sounds like boasting. I also suck at a lot of things other founders are great at -- and may know some (trivial or important, we'll see) stuff few of them do. So worried about generalising too.
100% agree that almost 100% of 'advice' along the lines of 'it's so hard' is actually just a commercial for the speaker

caveat, if 'it's actually hard' is a rebuttal to the 'work life-balancing my way to success is possible' people... it is good and necessary and i firmly support

My honest summary I guess would be: Fun things are hard. All fun things are hard, but this hard fun thing is actually useful.
