when i was that young i wouldn't have gotten much from "it's so hard and stressful but you love it anyway!" even if i heard it - would have sounded like white noise. stories moved me. adventure, and search for meaning. discovery. triumph.

Yes, whenever I hear Elon's much repeated "chewing on glass" analogy I feel like it sounds like boasting. I also suck at a lot of things other founders are great at -- and may know some (trivial or important, we'll see) stuff few of them do. So worried about generalising too.

100% agree that almost 100% of 'advice' along the lines of 'it's so hard' is actually just a commercial for the speaker
