You sure that's not better than how I learned computer programming in HS, with a teacher slowly, confusedly read-learning a textbook to us as we wrote VisualBasic programs to calculate how much paint to put on walls?

If so we should probably stop teaching English lest we quash the spirit of potential writers / it might just be too risky to run the experiment and see what happens..

It's true, I can attest that Minecraft Mods is a better attended program than Python camp. Both are needful though; the first inspires/engages, while the second really equips.

I used to teach both CS and vid game design. Renaming it to video game design will perpetuate dangerous gender stereotypes and likely deter even more women from joining. Not a good thing in this day and age ...

Include the word "creative" in there and you are likely to encourage more women/girls to participate.

Idk if this is sarcastic? But seen it done and it’s basically worthless. AP CS does a better job esp when taught by someone who cares. Would be a great course to focus on what AP CS does but not focusing on Java and OOP and just doing fun things. Maybe games. But do programming

Colleges don't need students to come in with more knowledge, they need more students to enroll in programming... this approach solves that problem by getting children excited.
