You sure that's not better than how I learned computer programming in HS, with a teacher slowly, confusedly read-learning a textbook to us as we wrote VisualBasic programs to calculate how much paint to put on walls?

I think even better would be iOS and Android classes. Students would be able to see something cool on their phone the first day of class.

I have mixed feelings on this. Yes it a great way to lure people in but it would have to be simple. And yet not too simple. I started by writing silly choose-your-own adventures at home. Luckily my high school had legitimate teachers of Basic and Pascal to go further.
