You sure that's not better than how I learned computer programming in HS, with a teacher slowly, confusedly read-learning a textbook to us as we wrote VisualBasic programs to calculate how much paint to put on walls?

I think even better would be iOS and Android classes. Students would be able to see something cool on their phone the first day of class.

If so we should probably stop teaching English lest we quash the spirit of potential writers / it might just be too risky to run the experiment and see what happens..

Idk if this is sarcastic? But seen it done and it’s basically worthless. AP CS does a better job esp when taught by someone who cares. Would be a great course to focus on what AP CS does but not focusing on Java and OOP and just doing fun things. Maybe games. But do programming

Good idea. Problem #1: state public school systems do not generate enough teachers to teach a class like this. Maybe 1 "computer" teacher in 10 schools is competent by industry standards.
