I wonder about this too. Part feel guilty when give up on book/author too quick, part not. Also gotten most out of authors who I've read in great depth all works and some many times. Too much bias confirmation or sticking with what's working?

Read widely, then read some of those books deeply.

I think if depends on your mental scope. If more comfortable at 50,000 foot view level, read widely, create mental linkages between disparate fields. If mental view is laser focused, read deeply, become a master in a field. > inequality flips based on mental orientation.
