How does arresting drug dealers fuel a surge in overdoses? I personally believe the opposite (e.g., our giving out 15,000 needles a day and releasing all the dealers leads to overdoses).

Every time you arrest a dealer their customers will just go to someone else. You can't get them all. There's too many. Attacking the supply side has never worked and it never will. It just fills the prisons and the pockets of the real drug lords which you will never find.

I hear this often but it doesn't make sense to me. From what I see, every nation on the planet arrests dealers -- and none of them have open-air drug markets like ours. I'm pretty sure we have the biggest fentanyl market in the world. And also the most relaxed laws...
