So sorry chef. I
your restaurant & wish we could do more to support businesses like yours. What I cannot do is jail people because of their addiction or double down on the failed war on drugs. We need to make it easier to get help than it is to get high in SF.

It's my understanding that we are at ambulance level 0 every day. Sometimes over 20 times a day. System is seriously strained with overdoses. I am terrified of needing an ambulance and none being available.

and if dealers don't pay fines? see earlier comments about rehab - only works if motivated and if they don't use those designated places?

Lol “fines for dealers”... Yea that will totally work. IF the city were to actually enforce it and they actually were to pay it (neither would happen), then it becomes a cost of doing business for them. The ONLY solution is to jail dealers and deport the ones not citizens.

Also we can consider providing users free access to confiscated drugs at the centralized dispensation locations. This will remove the incentive for the black market drug trade while encouraging users to interact with rehabilitative services.

Are you new to SF? Do you even live here? Activist here fight for ppl’s rights to OD & slowly die from drug use on streets. SF politicians trained others to give Narcan to ppl ODing (enabling much?). SF gives needles. Fines, never gonna happen. Community service? Yeah right.

the idea is to return to the past where those who committed obvious violent crimes were punished in public -- it's simple really - low cost too

We have those things in place but If there is 0 accountability for blowing off com serv hours, then what?? There needs to be an increase of sanctions. Then Chesa and the crew will whine that the system is overly punitive to poor, homeless etc and you know what nothing gets done.
