The inevitable result of laws passed out of frustration in first dealing with organized crime followed by the endless "war on drugs". There is a lot of lip service and very little respect for our Constitution across the political spectrum.

Saw it first hand in jury selection on Monday (I did not get picked). Multiple possible jurors said, when asked, they believed that the defendant needed to do something to prove his innocence. Judge was beside himself explaining that he did not.

This is the era of Trump. You are guilty first. The rule will change when we have the next Democrat President. It's right there in the Constitution.

The presumption of guilt extends to our social lives, e.g. background checks for school chaperons; our professional lives, e.g. drug testing; and personal lives, e.g. apps that track other peoples every move. People are not interested trust anymore.

In UK its already de-facto gone. We have pre-crime laws, which require a man to prove he won't commit a crime in future...and won't become a 'risk' of becoming a criminal in future. Its absolute madness and an outrageous trampling of article 6 ECHR.

These coerced confessions where people are brow-beaten until they plead guilty, has just got to stop. I honestly didn't know that could happen in the US
