The mother of the 6-year-old girl in this audio paid a smuggler $7,000 to guide them through Guatemala, Mexico and across the border into the United States illegally. Who bears the blame for putting the child at risk of death, kidnapping, and separation?https://twitter.com/ericuman/status/1008800749298610176 …

I don't endorse all her choices, though as I understand it, unless I have been misled, gang violence will no longer warrant an asylum claim.
-
I have been tweeting links all day to similar policies during Obama years. I am not suggesting Trump invented this problem, far from it. But harsh rhetoric against mothers with 6 year old girls does not strike me as a winning strategy.
-
Capitulating to manufactured mob hysteria and the time-tested kiddie shield strategy--whether on guns, health care, or immigration--hasn't yielded such boffo results.

You hit the nail on the head. Cruelty is cruelty no matter if it is healthcare, police brutality, separating families. I would be examining my heart of compassion if I were you.
-
Having a tough finding compassion while struggling to pay for my child's surgery, because we lost our health insurance due to Obamacare.

“Trump administration overturned asylum protections for victims of gang and domestic violence.” Yeah, sure, this would work out so well for a mother seeking to save her daughter from imminent gang violence. Her desperation should illicit... humanity not this BULLcrap.
-
She had several stops along the way in Mexico’s better locations, she chose to break the laws and put her daughter in a law breaking situation
-
Where? If you can’t say specifically- then don’t! And who’s to say what those stops meant for her and her daughter? Better to YOU may not and obviously wasn’t the same for her.
-
If one is truly seeking asylum then one would seek asylum at the first safe place/country they reach. Otherwise you are an economic migrant “shopping” for the most financially advantageous country.

Ask yourself if there are any circumstances that you would do the same. If I lived in terrible conditions and thought my child was in danger, I would move heaven and earth to get my child to a safer place. No one goes to such lengths for a simple change of scenery.
-
she could have stay in a different place in Mexico, all of Mexico isn’t about danger! She like a lot of others thought she should get a free pass. They are putting kids in a law breaking situation , no one is at fault except the parent for breaking the laws of the United States.
-
Mexico isn't a safe country. You think they were just stopping by resorts on the way here?

How far back in your family tree do we have to go to find a familial member that immigrated illegally? Aunts, Uncles... let round them up Michelle.

They're being turned away at the ports of entry. They cannot do it legally.https://www.theatlantic.com/video/index/563084/us-border-asylum/ …
