Actually, what they don't want is more of what happened in the Simpson trial--judges playing to the media...

Obviously there are cases (children involved) that require some privacy/discretion, etc... But (and there may be a reason
@molratty ?) to me courts are public. If it is our peers that reach a verdict than they’re actually representing the public at large.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

What happens to the courtroom portrait artists tho? Some of the portraits are works of art.
-
Media cant be everywhere. I have spoken to courtroom artists and it is already a dying art but there are still lots of high profile trials that will hopefully keep them employed, but I agree it will eventually go the way of the telegraph

Let's not forget that our courts of law are public venues held in a public building by public servants. The people (the public) have every right to oversee those functions taken by our (the public) employees; and by whatever means common to the times but not disruptive.
-
Having said that, we should all know that the great majority of today's "courts" are really just administrative hearings. If a lawyer is talking, it's an administrative hearing conducted within the scope of statutes to which the "defendant" must consent (usually does unwittingly)

Eh, I’m with Scalia on this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=F6gktBWhzc8 …. The media wld constantly replay very selective clips to drive their leftist agenda. Available audio is enough sunshine, but not sexy enough for the media to use for propaganda
