It seems like the Southwest Airlines situation, the railroad companies’ refusal on sick days and ongoing supply chain issues all stem from the same systemic failure to build slack into logistics order to maximize profits. Am I oversimplifying?

This didn’t get a lot of attention but—turning Microsoft’s labor neutrality agreement into a quid pro quo for organized labor to come out against antitrust enforcement is bad.

This is such a disappointment. We shouldn’t be leaving people out in the cold on technicalities. They did the work, they want a union. Find a way.

We’re disappointed to announce the withdrawal of our NLRB petition. More than enough folks signed to constitute a showing of interest, but the NLRB determined that the petition was invalid because we had not yet chosen a name for our union when we began collecting signatures.

The more I read pieces like this the more I fear some consultants read about sharecropping and said, "if we take away the direct connection to chattel slavery...this could be a profitable retail strategy"

I think what bothers me about the Howard Feels So Bad stuff is that, sorry, your bad feelings do not mean you get to violate the law. Your bad feelings do not make the union bad. Your bad feelings are not the responsibility of your employees to manage.

Sincerely, without snark: Howard’s sense of despair about the union is something he should work on with his therapist. I don’t doubt he’s genuinely upset. I also don’t care - his outbursts are harming a lot of people and that’s a problem.

They all take it personally, they all react emotionally, that’s why you need structures that ensure line individuals don’t have this much power over the lives and well being of thousands of ppl.

A year ago today, a group of working class baristas organized the first unionized Starbucks store in the United States. In the span of one year, we went from ZERO unionized Starbucks stores to 270 and almost 7,000 union workers. #SBWU1YearStrong

NEW from me: The Twitter feed is a pressure campaign from labor lawyers & organizers who are frustrated by the slowness of cases at the NLRB, which is SCOTUS for labor law. Few major cases reversing Trump board decisions have been decided.

Adams apparently would rather maintain monopolies and roll out more surveillance devices than go through with a preexisting plan that would provide a competitive landscape of internet providers to New Yorkers.

I’ve been a recipient of the Tech Solidarity Fund: 10/10 Fully recommend. So many orgs try and use money to control workers, it’s refreshing to work with one that cares more about supporting the work than their own fundraising.

Remember the disaster at the Mannington mine
Where seventy-eight good miners so uselessly died
Oh, don't follow your daddy to the Mannington mine.
How can God forgive you, you do know what you've done.
You've killed my husband, now you want my son.

Fun fact. If you’re on an h1b visa and lose your job (or a supervillain takes over your company) - you have 60 days to find a new job to sponsor you (an outrageous Byzantine process) or else you & your family gets kicked out of the country. Twitter basically has hostages 🫠

Yes, if there’s one thing we know about the working class, it’s that they have never responded negatively to things like speed-ups or mandatory overtime.

One of the FIRST demands organizing Starbucks workers made was for the company to implement credit card tipping. Now, after almost a year of building power, putting pressure on corporate, and striking 100+ stores, we can claim VICTORY!
Direct action really does get the goods!

Starbucks thought they could isolate and stamp out the union in Buffalo, but a group of brave workers in Mesa, AZ stood up and paved the way for every store after them.

I'm proud to stand with Starbucks workers on strike today across the country. CEO Howard Schultz is illegally union busting and firing workers for organizing. Mr. Schultz, it is time to recognize the stores that unionized and negotiate with workers in good faith. #RedCupRebellion
