Early review of The People's Republic of Walmart from : "It's an audacious and exciting vision, an excellent companion to other books like Four Futures, the kind of thing with the power to start a new movement. Highly recommended."

Shameful to see prop up an unelected figure and seek to legitimize a deeply divisive and undemocratic agenda. This visit is the opposite of supporting peace and democracy.

As a union organizer, I organized 100s of homophobic workers, some who didn’t believe in my existence Why? Bc the nonhomophobic workers needed a majoritity to win a union & the workers being in a progressive union was a better way to combat homophobia than me not organizing them

Truly inspired by this campaign that is centred on people and the pursuit of justice. A campaign that isn’t about one person but about people building a movement for fundamental change.

Enormous irony that this committee's globe preaches non-interventionism.

This is highly significant and promising. As a counterpoint, I'm reminded of when the NHS was being established in the UK in the 1940s and key British Medical Association figures literally compared Nye Bevan, the first Minister of Health, to Hitler.

It’s a problem when political parties merely see their role as playing to what they perceive as public opinion, but take no responsibility for shifting public opinion or helping create the conditions for civil society to shape public opinion.

Why did so many countries, from Sweden to Botswana, privatize their telecommunication infrastructures in the 1990s? It's not an illusion: blame it on the OECD and WTO...(Another great paper in the tech edition of this week...)
