I received a great education at non-elite universities both private (Pepperdine, Claremont) & public (Cal State Fullerton). After my 1st job no one cared where I went to college, only what I was able to do going forward. The SAT & college bribe scandals are driven by elite bias.

True. But elite pedigrees open the door more easily when you are starting out.

The number of people who never work one day in the profession their degree pertains to speaks loudly that outside of technical degrees college is vastly over rated. College is fun but not important for most people.

Likewise. Some of my professors went to MIT, even though I went to a state school (A&M).

My first degree was an Associates in Multimedia from a tech school and I literally had classmates dropping out halfway through becasue they got jobs in the field. Most employers really only care if you can do the job.

The contacts you make are the biggest thing. Education does not exist in a vacuum.

I went to a public city college and worked with guys who went to far more prestigious and insanely expensive colleges - doing the exact same job.

Standardized examination as a measurement of university qualification is a joke. The system of education is all about morphing you into being an obedient worker who successfully participates in the box and makes deadlines.

Totally agree on that. Nobody cares what diplomas you have but rather *if* you can deliver results and work independently! Also important is how you fit into a team. Are you a team player?
