Rapid tests available in the Hong Kong subway system. Cool!! There's a reason they're winning... @michaelmina_lab @fordnationpic.twitter.com/cKnmqmTpUj

This is great! Not quite rapid tests - these are for collection and eventual PCR most likely. But definitely could be done with rapid tests!

I’d like to trademark this in perpetuity ☺️, but we could have covending (COV-end-ing) machines that dispense rapid tests. I put that out there around May. Thankfully you’ve used your expert voice & institutional clout to move the needle.

It's similar to what China did to test millions in a city over a weekend. Assembly line to collect, document, transport, then test the samples. Centralized data analysis can report on results, and even do genome analysis to track strains, mutation etc. Free vending. Smart idea.

1)3 months of one of the most strict lockdowns worldwide. 2)Severe contact tracing and isolation of contacts. 3)15 day quarantine on arrival to the country. 4)Testing. Saying it was only because of testing is just wrong.

They certainly are not rapid tests. They are PCR tests, and not particularly fast ones at that.

Spreading misinformation about what testing in occurring (and the OP here is simply wrong) caused enormous confusion and harm earlier in the year and certainly isn't going to be doing any good now.

The problem is that if the sample is collected and handled incorrectly you could get a wildly wrong result from the tests causing more damage than no test at all. That's why most tests aren't approved for home use, for ex.
