Just to be clear - a booster dose is very important - As @VirusesImmunity has well described in her posts and I have discussed in mine too.
But we are in an emergency. If 80% of the 2 dose effectiveness holds w a single dose, then vaccinating 2x ppl is the smart ethical approach

Also - Im writing emphatically but I’m still a scientist. We should try this. We should see if it works. We should have been trialing it from the beginning bc we know the manufacturing limitations. We can start the trials today. But instead we are starting more trials w 2 doses

I tend to think medical/first responders and assisted living at two doses and then switch to single dose.

It also seems likely that one shot of the Pfizer vaccine is more efficacious than two shots of AstraZeneca. Should that be the case, we will face the ethical dilemma real fast (whether we want to or not) of who gets what vaccine.

I'm assuming the effect of just 1 dose would wane over time though. you only see results of the 2 dose regimen in this graph. they would have to have a separate 1 dose trial to see if they could "get away with" 1 dose
