Tests like this will *HOPEFULLY* grease the wheels for other tests to make it into the home. But again - this isn't even the conversation we should be having... we need these tests to be evaluated as PUBLIC HEALTH TOOLS. Not medical diagnostic tools.https://twitter.com/michaelmina_lab/status/1328873625894719489?s=20 …

A bit more news on this... This will thus far only be available with prescription... WTF? No COVID test today should require a prescription
@US_FDA This is an all in one device and I expect it may be expensive and won’t be available widely for while So it’s a baby stepShow this thread

Do you know if there will be a requirement or mechanism for reporting the result to state departments of health?
-
There's likely an app associated with it. I prefer the tests that will be entirely voluntary reporting - assuming we can get them to huge numbers of people

For anyone else curious: - Swab your nose - Place in vial - Wait 30-minutes Also: - Single use, disposable - Less than $50
-
Much cheaper than what they were selling at Costco.

Good news but not a game changer. And why this test instead of others that would make a bigger dent in the current surge?
-
@SteveFDA By requiring prescriptions and reporting, this tool is for all practical purposes useless to adequately screen the public for contagion. You would get your data with a confirmatory PCR. Maddening hoops that will cost lives.@JoeBiden@KamalaHarris@RonaldKlain
