It's rare to have a confession that our culture is completely dominated by progressivism.https://twitter.com/JoyAnnReid/status/988232385597726720 …

The response to Kanye is a perfect example of domestic imperialism. They know he’s not conservative. But he is a leading influence in hip-hop, and refuses to mold the culture or himself into something progressives approve of. That he can defy them and remain popular is maddening

Woke rappers like Common play every awards show and read poetry to Obama because they don’t have as many problematic opinions or mannerisms as Kanye. I think that’s because they want to remake the culture with progressive values. Isn’t that an example? Genuinely curious

imperialism is the conquest of one culture over another. Kanye is not in any sense a member of the conquered culture.

What would you characterize it as when they begin to attack the problematic aspects of minority cultures? For instance lots of us Latinos attack the fact that the language is gendered, hence “Latinx”. They are members of the culture, sure, but they’re always college-educated too

so-called minority cultures are part of the dominant progressive culture and in fact are championed frequently
